We’re excited to welcome Katy Mesics to the Evergreen Therapy team! Katy brings a heart for walking alongside individuals, youth, and families through difficult seasons of life. Her journey into counselling grew from years of listening to and supporting young people, along with her own experiences navigating anxiety, depression, relationships, faith, and personal growth.
In her work, Katy values creating a space where people feel heard and understood while also being supported in finding healthy ways forward. She believes that emotions are important to acknowledge and understand, but that we don’t have to remain stuck in difficult places.
One area of Katy’s work that we’re especially excited to highlight is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR can help people process distressing or traumatic experiences in a way that does not always require extensive verbal retelling. Katy explains more about how EMDR works and what someone might expect from the process in this video.
Outside of counselling, Katy enjoys country living and creative activities such as art, sewing, and music—ways she finds meaningful for processing and expressing emotions.
We’re grateful to have Katy joining Evergreen Therapy and look forward to introducing you to her and her approach to counselling.
