What Is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps people process distressing experiences and memories in a safe, structured way. Rather than focusing only on talking about the past, EMDR helps the brain process experiences that may still be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and daily life.
EMDR is commonly used to support individuals who have experienced trauma, but it may also be helpful for concerns such as anxiety, panic, grief, difficult life experiences, and other situations where the past continues to impact the present. Side-to-side eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) assist the brain in reprocessing and storing memories in such a way that they lose their emotional intensity.
If you're wondering whether EMDR is the right fit for you, Katy can answer your questions and help determine the approach that best supports your unique needs and goals.
